Let's start from the beginning of the story...

What is the material of gypsum?

"Gismonite is a composite material (which means it is made from more than one component) used in arts and crafts, as well as in some constructions and manufacturing."

Simply put, the gypsum powder is a Powder and liquid, when mixed and left to set, they turn into a hard and flexible material in a very short time.

The powder is based on gypsum (gypsum is a soft mineral) and the liquid is acrylic resin.

"It is also not safe for use in the microwave or in the dishwasher."

💡It is preferable to use flexible silicone molds as resin molds for the best results.

Does the gypsum board withstand heat?

The material can withstand a maximum of 60 degrees Celsius partially only, good in direct sunlight or warm environments in general.

Is the gypsum board break-resistant?

Very strong, but not as hard as materials like granite or quartz.

"Therefore, it should not be used on floors, cutting boards, or kitchen countertops."

"But for table surfaces, trays, coasters, distributions, jewelry, and other incidental decorative elements, they withstand all shocks wonderfully."

What can you make from gypsum?

This only depends on how creative you are!

Popular options include…

  • Candles and Holders Wax
  • Coasters
  • Distributions
  • jewelry
  • trays
  • soap dishes
  • jewelry dishes
  • vases
  • candlesticks
  • Stands

How do you start with the Gismonite?

Here is everything you need to start using the gypsum and casting.

  • Gysmonite materials (Powder + Liquid hardener)
  • Original Gysmonite Dyes
  • Silicone silicone (preferably flexible like resin molds)
  • Mixing cups or containers
  • sensitive electronic scale
  • Sandpaper sheets in different grades
  • Creativity..

The mixing ratios for the gypsum material are as follows: (40 grams Liquid for every 100 grams Powder) for example, measure 300 grams of powder and 120 grams of liquid. Mix them together in a container. This is the magic ratio for gypsum to make the material strong and set correctly and quickly.

💡The mixing ratios can be calculated as follows: any number of powder we multiply by 0.4 and it gives us how much liquid we need.. Example: ( 50 powder * 0.4 = 20 Liquid)

  • Add the colors you love - less is more! The pigments are very strong with a high concentration, and you can always add more as desired.
  • Mix the two materials with the colors well, and once the mixture becomes smooth, pour the mixture into your mold. You want to make sure it gets into all the corners and crevices of the mold, so gently tap the base of the mold on your work surface and let it sway gently to remove any air bubbles. Then let it sit for 30 minutes to an hour. Your gypsum may get warm as it hardens - this is because the gypsum creates an exothermic reaction during the process, but not at high temperatures.
  • "After 15-30 minutes, gently remove the piece from its mold. If the mixture successfully filled the mold, there should be no holes or gaps from bubbles."
  • You can use sandpaper to smooth the piece and make it vibrant in color and soft to the touch.

"In 15-30 minutes, I created an amazing and beautiful eternal artwork!"

Here are some simple and beautiful ideas that you can make using gypsum.

You can create a stunning marble-like piece by adding small amounts of any color to the white jesmonite in its mold, and lightly stirring (not completely) the color into the material.

Combine the gypsum and the clear resin with dried flowers to create this stunningly contrasting piece. To achieve this, pour the entire gypsum into any mold of your choice, then remove it and carefully split it into two halves. Place one half back into the mold and fill the rest of the mold with the clear resin, adding some of the dried flowers.
